OUR HISTORY
Calvary Baptist Church had its beginning on March 13, 1959 in the home of Riley and Deryle Lee. On March 18 the church began meeting in a building at Covington Highway and Carroll Road, which had formerly been a nightclub and then quarters for the Moose Lodge. On that date, the name Calvary Baptist Church was adopted. By July of the same year the first deacons were elected. On November 30, 1959 the church received the current property as a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Mackenroth. By 1982 our grade school was started. Sadly, the church was flooded by hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005.
Through the years many things have changed while other things have remained the same. We exist to encourage and strengthen Christian faith through praise and worship, personal and family discipleship, and community outreach. There is a place for you to belong at Calvary!
